Artist Statement

Jewelry is one of the easiest ways to make a woman feel beautiful.  In this society, it takes a lot to make a woman that is not a size 00 to feel beautiful.  Jewelry has become one of my great loves in that the quality of work is showcased in the intricacy and uniformity of the work.  There is no greater joy than to create something with a high quality of work and that makes a woman feel beautiful.  When looking at a piece of jewelry, something reaches out to you from the artist's soul and brings you in.  Whether it's the ramdom-ness of a wire-worked piece reflecting the chaos we all feel inside sometimes or the uniformity and rigid control in a symmetrical earring that we all fight to exert over our lives, I feel I have touched a bit of your life when you wear a piece of mine.
In creating a piece of jewelry, it usually starts as an experiment.  Many people draw out and plan what they are going to make.  I, on the contrary, use the skills and knowledge I have to fulfill an image in my head.  When inspiration strikes, there is no stopping the creating that can happen.  Using high quality materials has yielded amazing results.  The high quality of metals and beads used in my work reflect my personal style and love of beauty.
I am currently working on expanding my metalworking horizons. Recently, I took a class from an enamel artist, Lillian Jones, and have fallen in love with enamels.  Like painting, enamels add color and depth to already lovely metal.  I believe that enamels should be accessible to everyone, even the beginners with no kiln.  I have been working exclusively with enamels that are torch fired and have yielded beautiful results.
